Michael “Whit” Whittington serves as the Senior Minister for the Antioch church. He joined the staff in August, 2005 after serving as the Senior Staff Chaplain for the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Whit received a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from Oklahoma Christian University, two Master’s degrees from Abilene Christian University – Master of Science and Master of Divinity, and an earned Doctorate from Saint Paul School of Theology. He has preached for congregations in Oklahoma and Texas and served at the highest levels of the Air Force Chaplain Service. David Vaughn serves as the Church Life Minister working with Adult Education and church family events. David is married to Katy, and they have two sons Nate and Josh. He was raised in Murfreesboro, TN and graduated from Harding University with a B.A. in Youth Ministry and a B.A. in Mathematics. Prior to assuming his current ministry role, David served the Antioch congregation as the Student Minister from 1991-2002. He received his M.S. in Biblical and Related Studies from Abilene Christian University in 2002. Andrew Sowards serves as the Student Minister and Webmaster for the church websites. He joined the Antioch staff in July 2003. He graduated from Harding University in 1999 with a degree in Youth and Family Ministry and a minor in Spanish. He and his wife Erin have three children, Caleb, Gabriel, and Abigail Andrew came to Antioch after serving as the Youth and Family Minister for Lafayette Church of Christ in St. Louis, MO. He did not grow up attending church, but became a Christian as a High School sophomore in central Kentucky. Jim Taylor serves as Office Administrator and Manager. He is a native of Nashville and has served on the Antioch Church of Christ staff since 1990. He and his family began attending Antioch in 1982. His initial staff assignment was to work as coordinator for “Jubilee 1990,” a nationwide Bible study, preaching, and singing event for churches of Christ that was located at the Nashville Convention Center. Jim and his wife, Gale, have been married for more than thirty years, and they met while students at David Lipscomb College where each earned an undergraduate degree. They are parents of three adult children.
Steve Diggs leads the No Debt No Sweat! Christian Money Management Ministry which is overseen by the Antioch Elders. A most unique ministry, NDNS! teaches God's people how to use God's money in God's way. Steve serves the Antioch church directly as an on-site financial counselor and teacher helping members, and area residents, learn biblical ways to control their money, get out of debt, prepare for college and retirement, and develop godly stewardship plans. Additionally, Steve develops curriculum and various study materials. The NDNS! Money Boot Camp Small Group Study is taught at regular intervals. Steve and his best friend, Bonnie, have four children: Megan, Joshua, Emilee and Mary Grace. The family has been part of the Antioch Church of Christ family since 1977. Sheryl Friend is the full-time administrative assistant. She has been the front office secretary since March, 1999 but has been a part of the Antioch Church of Christ since she and Maynard came to Nashville in 1979. They have four children: Jennabeth, Bonnie, John and Beckie. Sheryl is an assistant coordinator in the 3rd and 4th grade department. She has also been involved in the various Antioch musicals, and is visible at the Wednesday night fellowship meals where she gets to collect money and socialize. James Craighead serves as the church custodian. He and his wife, Judith, were reared in the rural northeastern Tennessee community of Hermitage Springs near Red Boiling Springs. Following graduation from Hermitage Springs High School in 1958, James moved to Nashville for better work opportunities, and shortly thereafter, James and Judith were married. The Craighead Family began attending Antioch in 1962. James and Judith are parents of two adult children and grandparents to two grandsons. James is in charge of maintenance and custodial services for the church building and also performs many other tasks that are vital to the community life of the Antioch Church Family. Randy Patterson serves the Antioch church and community in Outreach and encouraging new Christians. Randy learned to love and serve Jesus through the Inner City Bus Ministry, where he taught for five years. Randy is married to Shelia and they have two children, Donovan and Chelese. Randy was an elder, preacher, and teacher until 2005 for the Bride of Christ Church. He speaks to various youth, college and mens' retreats. Randy works full-time for Crystal Springs Bottled Water.
Lisa Steele serves as Director of English Classes for the Antioch church. Since 2005, the community classes have grown from only a few students to over 200 from 39 countries. Lisa also translates Sunday morning worship services into Spanish and translates the Sunday morning Estudio Biblíco. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee. Lisa and her husband, Mark, have been members of Antioch since 2001 and have two children, Kendall and Kyle.
Barbara Biffle is the Student Ministry and Church Life Secretary. Barbara joined the Antioch staff in December 2004, after retiring from Bellsouth. Her additional responsibilities include the publication of the Sunday bulletin and maintaining the church websites. She is the sister of Antioch member, Sharon Hicks, and has one son, Craig.
