Antioch Summer Outreach Musical

Jesus knew what He was talking about when He quoted the familiar proverb, “A prophet is not honored in his own country.” We are a talented church family but as is often the case, we tend to think that the word “professional” refers to all those other than our own.

I suspect you would agree with me when I say that God has blessed us with more talent than we recognize or deserve – whether in worship, building a pavilion, or producing a play. As I pen these thoughts, I’m reminded of how privileged we are to have Jean Miller direct our summer musical Promised Land. One of the more experienced directors in all of Nashville, Jean brings a freshness and professionalism to our outreach ministry that few congregations can boast. The play, written by Randy Gill and Jeff Walling, is an adaptation of the biblical story of the Exodus – God’s deliverance of His people from bondage. As Sister Jean wrote in her Director’s Note:

“By the time the Hebrews arrived in Canaan, the Philistines already had a healthy fear of the God who delivered His people from the hand of their oppressor, Pharoah. God’s message: I Am. Worship me alone…”

We are privileged that the playwrights have the confidence in Jean and the Antioch congregation that they’ve allowed us to premier their newest musical. By the time you read this bulletin, the first two performances will have already passed, but the Finale is tonight at seven o’clock. If you haven’t attended one of the other two performances you’re in for a real blessing!

This year’s Antioch Summer Outreach Musical is not only a great evangelistic tool to introduce our friends to God’s Word but it’s great familyentertainment – professionally written and directed with excellent singing, choreography, and acting. Thank you, Jean. Thank you, cast. Thank you, Lord!
